How is it March? January was such a long month and February went by in the blink of an eye. I was in a heavy slump in January and I tried my best to get out of that in February.
In February I went to Munich. It was great. The weather was amazing and of course I had great company. We did all the usual touristy things, like the BMW museum, St. Peter’s Tower, The Hofbrauhaus and watched the Glockenspiel. We spent a few hours in Dachau Concentration Camp. It was insane.
In February I read for books. Not bad for a short month. Some months are better for reading than others. Sometimes every book you pick up is good, or in some cases, readable.
I read the great book “Notes On A Nervous Planet” by Matt Haig. I loved it. I really admire Matt Haig. I think he’s a fantastic writer and a down right fantastic human. This book made me question my life, in a good way. I want to tell everyone in my life to read this book. Matt Haig makes me feel like I’m less alone in my panic attacks about life.
Then I hoped on the youtube band wagon and read Brittani Taylor’s book/memoir, “A Sucky Love Story.” I devoured this book in a few hours after watching Shane Dawson’s video where Brittani talks about what happened to her, I wanted to know everything. I really loved this book. It was stranger than fiction because it was true.
While waiting for my flight home from Munich I was browsing the kindle store and came across “Hidden Bodies” by Caroline Kepnes. This is the second book to “You.” C’mon I know you’ve watched the Netflix show. I didn’t read the first book but I felt like I didn’t have to after binging the Netflix show. I dove right into the second book. I would not recommend. Everything that “You” was, “Hidden Bodies” was nothing like that. I wanted to know what happened to Joe and what he was going to do next. I was disappointed. I forced myself to finish this book because I had so much hope for it to get better. When it ended I felt deflated and sad for the characters because I felt like the writing really let their story down. I know Joe is a serial killer but he deserves better writing as well. Hopefully “You” season two is better than the second book. Sorry.
The forth book I finished this month was “Heros: Mortals and Monsters, Quests and Adventures” by Stephen Fry. I loved the first book in this series, “Mythos.” It was brilliant. Stephen Fry is an amazing person and I love him but I was bored during “Heros.” I listened to this on Audible (not spon but I wish it was, ha!) I like listening to Stephen Fry, his voice is so relaxing. Anyway, I didn’t enjoy “Heros” half as much as I loved “Mythos” but then 15 hours of Greek mythology, how exciting can that be? It took me about 3 days to finish Mythos but I struggled with Heros.
How was your February? What did you get up to? What books did you read? I’d love to know!
