The Self-Care Project by Jayne Hardy was just the book I wanted to start my 2019 off to! The new years blues hit me hard. I was feeling deflated after a hetic Christmas of working in retail. The cold was starting to get to me ( I love the cold weather but sometimes it makes me feel a bit miserable) and I was thinking too much about what 2019 was going to bring for me… 2018 had it’s ups and downs but I wasn’t feeling too optimistic about what was to come. For an optimist I’m pretty pessimistic.
I had been following Jayne and The Blurt Foundation on instagram for a while and I knew I wanted to pick up her book, The Self-Care project but of course I put it on the back burner. I told myself I would eventually get around to reading it. You know, when I had more time for self- care… Then the book wenton offer on Kindle and you know as well as me, us bookworms can’t pass up a book for 99 cent! It would be rude not to!
So with the Self- care project safely downloaded to my kindle I thought ‘Hey maybe it’s time for some self care?’ Well let me tell you, it’s always time for self- care! While reading this book it felt like Jayne Hardy had slipped her way into my brain and she was telling me everything I needed to hear. At times it felt like Jayne had written this book just for me. I found myself agreeing with what she was telling me I needed. Finally someone who knew what was going on inside my head and she wasn’t shaming me for it.
The Self-Care Project was just the kick I needed to tell myself I’m not being miserable if I don’t feel up to doing something and that all those small steps I’m taking toward my future will pay off in the long run. Even if it doesn’t feel like it right now.
If you’re feeling a bit all over the place and don’t really know how to get back on your feet, pick up The Self-Care Project by Jayne Hardy. Make it your January read and get yourself into a good head space for the year that’s to come.
